When Dorothy Murphy notified Dorothy Weisser that she and Ken were planning a short trip to the West Coast from their home in North Carolina, it seemed like the opportune time to get the Willamette Valley Nu Delta members together. Dorothy Weisser offered her home and lunch to all of us--an offer we certainly didn't refuse!

On a lovely late-summer day fifteen of us shared Dorothy's delicious lunch and LOTS of good conversation. Husbands Ken Murphy and Ed Hardy tactfully found someplace else for their lunch--no doubt a quieter spot too! For most of us, this was our first chance to catch up on each other's lives in a long while. We welcomed Beth (Tedford) Hardy back to the Willamette Valley. She and Ed now reside in Corvallis. Joyce (Taylor) Hedeen is in the process of moving from Coquille to the Monmouth area, so we were glad she and Alice (Adams) Schmidt could drive up and join us. Even though the rest of us live somewhere between Portland and Salem, we hadn't had a chance for a good visit since the Nu Delta reunion in August, 2006, when our lunch was served aboard ship as we cruised the Willamette River.

Here are some more photos from this delightful day:

At a time when the high cost of gas, and rigors of travel make such gatherings more difficult, we all felt very lucky that we could share this day together.

It is quite an achievement when women can look back on sixty years of shared experiences and memories. We all agreed that we were grateful to Jean (Gilmer) Garrett for keeping our Nu Delta chapter alums together through the years. She is deeply missed, as are the others no longer with us.

THANK YOU, Dorothy for making the day possible.

Yours in Chi Omega,

"Kemmie" aka Barbara Halliday
