Just before we leave for Salt Lake City, Glenn’s uncle Everett Terril and family come to visit.

1970 June 25 Our careful plans to have our cat, “Imp” fly out to Salt Lake City are derailed--his cage isn’t big enough. All five of us drive to Salt Lake City together in the Hornet. The cat doesn’t lose his “meow” until somewhere on the prairie. We drive west past Pittsburgh, South Bend, IN, through Iowa, S.Dakota. We stop in Mitchell, S.Dakota to see Barb's old friend, Mamie Berry, from our Los Angeles years. Also tour the “ Corn Palace.”

1970 June We make one more tourist stop--at Rapid City, S.Dakota. Go to see the Badlands, Mt. Rushmore and Lead, home of the Homestake gold mine. Seeing the Black Hills, REAL mountains, brings tears to Barbara’s eyes. At dinner, at the Holiday Inn, we see Barbara’s Uncle Julius Kemmerich, his son, Ross and family. They live in WA State. What were the odds of that happening!

1970 June Back on the road, we go through Casper, WY, “Little America, WY” and arrive in Salt Lake City on July 1.
